Many thanks to all the lovely folks who came out to help at the July work party! The Great Wall Project made it to the mailbox, and has now turned the corner, so we’re working on the part that will seclude us from the boulevard. Meanwhile the sculpting has begun, as has work on the cornice that will cap the whole wall.
If you’d like to come out and get your hands in the dirt, or the mud, (or the weeds, for that matter), we’re hosting our August work party this Sunday! The main project is the earthbag wall, both the building and the plastering thereof. We’ve moved several steps forward in the plastering process, and have need of folks to throw mud at the wall, and folks to sculpt on the wall (in keeping with the design themes, of course).
As usual, we’ll get going at 9 a.m. and work till around 7, with breakfast for all at 11 and a hearty vegetarian lunch around 2. We’ll try to send all volunteers home with some farm produce.
Hope to see you then!
